Mountain Mike's Pizza on Urbanspoon

Did you know that 1 in 8 Americans eat pizza on any given day according to the USDA?

Yep, everybody loves pizza!

That’s a statement not many people will argue with. Well, today I felt like being one of those American’s and decided to give Mountain Mike’s Pizza a go.

There are three locations in Livermore:

  • Mountain Mikes on First Street across from Valley Care Medical Center.
  • Mountain Mikes Slices on First Street near the flag pole.
  • and Mountain Mikes on North Vasco Road.

For #41 of The Great Livermore Restaurant Challenge, I stay in and ordered online from the Vasco location.

First let’s talk coupons. No matter where you buy a pizza, it pays to check for coupons first. Whether it’s on their website or in a coupon pack mailer, it’s almost impossible to find a pizza joint that doesn’t offer coupons. While Mountain Mikes has coupons you can print out, ordering online takes away the hassle. On their online menu, they have a “Specials/Coupons” section with prices already discounted for you. Just click the deals you want, choose your toppings, and place your order.

Mountain Mike’s Snowy Alps

My deal is the Large Specialty for $18.99, and I chose the Snowy Alps (pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, sausage, green onions, and diced tomatoes on a creamy garlic white sauce). Tax and a delivery fee brings the total to $22.35, not including tip.

The order confirmation estimated a 45 minute delivery time and that’s exactly how long it took. While I love thin crust pizzas, I never order them for delivery. Regular or thick crust is a better choice since they hold in the heat well and travel better. Thankfully the Snowy Alps’ name didn’t accurately describe mine as it arrived hot and tasty.

I used to order from Pizza Guy’s quite a bit since they offer a decent pizza for a good price. I also used to order from Round Table, while I really like their pizzas, they are just overpriced for my budget. As this is my second or third Mountain Mikes experience, I think I have a new go-to pizza place. The Snowy Alps is a combination that I really like, and with their coupons it doesn’t break the bank.

Since Mountain Mikes has a few restaurants in Livermore, I still have two more to try during my Great Livermore Restaurant Challenge journey. When I get to those, I’ll be sure to eat in to get the full restaurant experience.

Have you been to Mountain Mike’s? How do you like their pizzas? Tell us about your experience in the comments below.
