I have never been to the Farmer’s Market here in town as I usually hit the grocery store due to convenience. Growing tired of sub par fruits and veggies, I decided to check out the Summer Farmers’ Market in downtown Livermore.
I was quite surprised when I got there as it turned out to be quite a larger event than I expected. There were lots of vendors, plenty of food and great entertainment for everyone of all ages. Tons of people too! Kids were lined up waiting for their Angry Birds balloon animal from the balloon animal guy, adults were relaxing to sounds of live music, and everyone was enjoying the beautiful summer weather on the cool green grass.
As I was wandering around taking photos, one of the fruit vendors offered me a sample organic strawberry. As the sweet-juicy-oh-so-wonderful-freshy-goodness of the strawberry hit my taste buds, I pulled a wad of cash out of my pocket and yelled, “Take my money!” As you can imagine, that basket of strawberries barely made it all the way home. Good food can be so dangerous I tell you. 🙂
I’m definitely changing my grocery shopping habits. I’ve been missing out.
The Summer Farmers’ Market is held on Thursdays from 4pm-8pm until October 17th at Carnegie Park on Third S. between J St. & K St. There is also the year-round market held Sunday 10am-2pm at the Historic Train Depot located at Railroad Ave. & L St.
