Pedaling 4300 Miles from the Golden Gate to West Point

Gate to Point

As I was reading the news today, I came across an article about a Livermore couple currently pedaling 4300 miles from the Golden Gate to West Point.

Then I stopped and yelled out, “Hey, I know that guy!”

Tom was my boss when I worked at the lab. Great guy doing an amazing cross-country bike ride as part of fund raising effort for Cause – Comfort For America’s Uniformed Services. Way to go!

You can follow their adventure on Tom’s “Gate to Point” blog at

…and here is the news article from The Independent with more information about their ride: Aid to Veterans: Livermore Couple Starts Coast to Coast Bike Ride.

Have an awesome and safe ride guys!

Let’s say it’s a Thursday evening and you’re hungry. Like really hungry. You’re in Livermore, want to go somewhere lively, have a drink or two, maybe catch a baseball game, but most of all fulfill that animalistic hunger in your gut.

That was our situation as my wife Andrea and I drove downtown wondering where we should eat. After parking in the “garage,” it didn’t take long until a wonderful sweet smell of BBQ caught our attention. Yep, Sauced lured us in.

At #23 of The Great Livermore Restaurant Challenge, Sauced is located right smack downtown on First Street next to the Bankhead Theater. As you can see from their sign, pork and booze are their highlights – there is no arguing with that, innuendos aside.

There’s Baseball Fever in Livermore

Little League Intermediate World Series Parade 2014

2014 Little League Intermediate World Series Parade in Livermore, CA

Young baseball players from around the world marched their way down First Street today to kick off the 2014 Little League Intermediate World Series.

I grabbed my camera, headed downtown, and took a few snapshots of the action. Check out the photo gallery to see all the teams below.

Games start Tuesday, 7/29 at 9am and play everyday until the championship game on Monday 8/4 at 4pm. For more information and a complete schedule, visit

While you can watch the games live online at, it’s best to grab your lawn chair and head over to Max Baer Park on Murdell Lane just off Concannon Boulevard. Last year was exciting and yes, wait for it, fresh kettle corn was available.

Who’s playing and where are all the teams from you ask? They are…

I’ve linked to their hometown Wikipedia page so you can learn a little bit about where they are from. If you see the players around town, be sure and give them that awesome Livermore welcome!

Baseball rocks!

It was a nice Livermore afternoon and my tummy was growling as it was way past lunchtime. Turns out J.T. was growling for a different reason – she really wanted to get out for some fresh air.

I grab her leash, her water, my keys, and my wallet as we hop in my truck and head over to Taco Bell. Yep, J.T. is on her way to meet Gidget, the Taco Bell chihuahua for #22 of The Great Livermore Restaurant Challenge.

Livermore has several Taco Bell’s. Back in March I wrote about the Vasco location. This time I decided to visit the one on Las Positas Road in the Target shopping center.
